كتاب Pride and Prejudice
المؤلف: Jane Austan

Jane Austen "Jane Austen" begins with the statement: "It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife." Then the narrator begins the story: "Mrs. Bennet" has five daughters and a big problem: none of them are married, there isn't much fortune to go around, and thanks to a quirk of English property law; they'll all be kicked out of their house when "Mr. Bennet" dies. "Pride and Prejudice" is a novel of manners written in 1813. Pride is a key theme in the novel; it has a constant presence in the characters' attitudes and treatment of each other throughout the book being shown primarily through the character of "Darcy" whose pride about his social status makes him look down on anyone not in his class. He displays this most blatantly during his proposal to "Elizabeth" as his pride causes him to struggle against his feelings for her as he feels ashamed of the "Bennet" family's lower connections. Prejudice refers to the tendency of the characters to judge one another based on presumptions. The theme is displayed mostly through the character of "Elizabeth", who is quick to judge others upon meeting them. Authenticity, simple plot, and profound psychologism make this book a memorable milestone, "Austen" moderately uses literary devices, preferring such Indirect seams as sarcastic humor, caprice, and a mixture of quick parts.
